Our club will be displaying our layout at the Rocky Mountain Hobby Expo in Denver on the weekend of October 13th & 14th at the Denver Merchandise Mart.  More information about the Expo can be found on this flyer.

A new addition this year is the Rocky Mountain Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet (RPM) that will bring in serious scratch building modelers from around the region. The Meet is a separate activity within the Expo and has a separate $20 registration fee. The RPM registration includes visits to San Juan Model, Colorado Model Railroad Museum, Cheyenne Depot Museum, a workshop at the Colorado Railroad Museum and a pizza night at Caboose. The RPM meet is sponsored by the Colorado Railroad Museum, Cheyenne Depot Museum, the Colorado Model Railroad Museum and various manufacturers and retailers. RPM Meet info and registration may be found at- rockymountainhobby-expo.com/rpm/

In addition to railroad hobby activities, we will have a presentation called The Transcontinental Story, which covers building the first transcontinental railroad as well as Richard Luckin will be presenting his PBS documentary “Journey to Promontory! Additionally, we will have presentations on prototype railroad operations.

Renown railroad artist Jim Jordan will be exhibiting at the Expo as well.

We are also pleased to have James Rogers, Senior Special Collection Librarian of Denver Public Library’s Western History and Genealogy Department (WHG) exhibiting the library’s transportation and genealogy resources at this year’s event. WHG’s "crown jewels" include the Colorado Railroads Collection and the Ross Barrett Historical Aeronautics Collection.

The Colorado Railroads Collection includes 20,000+ historical railroad photographs from notable railroad photographers such as Robert Richardson and Otto Perry, including a large portion of Perry’s works. Included are images of standard and narrow gauge railroads in Colorado and the West; locomotives, passenger and freight cars, structures, and terminals. Many rail lines such as the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad, the Rio Grande Southern, and the Union Pacific Railroad are represented.

Beyond railroads, the Hobby-Expo offers Radio Control cars, trucks, aircraft and boats, drones, model kits, slot cars, rockets, games, LEGO and STEM activities.
