Club News
 June 2006

June Club Meeting will be held at the space in Westminster Mall at 1:00 PM on June 25th, 2006.

Each summer we hold club elections for the upcoming fiscal year. Three officer positions are elected on a general ballot, President, Secretary and Treasurer. The elections will be held in conjunction with the July monthly meeting. In addition to the election we vote for the Club Member of the year. A club member that typifies the great group of folks we have in the club over the last year. I have to take a moment to jump on the soapbox and remind folks that this is your club and we all have a voice in the direction and creativity behind the club. I encourage all who would like to step into one of the three leadership roles to submit their nomination to run.  As always this is your club so if there is an item that you'd like to add to the agenda for the meeting please contact Brent Rush

Greeting all!

April was certainly an interesting month for the club. We made are first trip to North Platte, Nebraska for the NMRA West-Central Division Train Show.  I want to thank those who were able to make it to  the show and survived the weather. It certainly made for an interesting drive.  By the luck of the draw I got to pull the trailer through all that weather and have John Lewin and Gene Schilling ride along.  Sound like the making of a three stooges movies and there were certainly times during the trip I would have agreed.  The show was a complete success and was topped off with Best of Show Honors.  After talking with club member all agree that it would be an event worth doing again and it sound like the group in North Platte would like to make us part of their regular attendees.

Here is an overview shot of the show floor at North Platte

The tour of the Bailey yard on Saturday certainly didn't disappoint and most agree made the event for the club.  Please check out the photo gallery for a special section I added for the shots taken on the tour.

I wanted to touch on a couple of points that came from the April club meeting about the space at Westminster Mall.  When we agreed to use the space at the mall there is a cost associated with it use.  Monthly it will cost the club rough about two hundred dollars to cover utility and insurance. The club has to purchase liability insurance which we can use at shows.  Many say its overdue that the club carry some type of insurance.  The space will finally give us some space to give all the modules some much needed TLC after a couple of years of road rash.  while the new trailer has helped minimize damage in transit   We've also spent a lot of time talking about new modules for this summer and we certainly want to hear from everyone on their ideas and work out which ones we would like to get done.

Looking at the rest of the show on the schedule is some what open.  We informed Cheyenne that we were passing on the June show for the space at Westminster Mall. The Montrose show will also not happen this year as they sort out their facility issues.  We are confirmed for the fall edition of the Great Train Expo and will likely pick up one of the TCA events either in the summer or over the Thanksgiving weekend so stay tuned

If there is something on your mind about the train club and you would like to discuss it with me please drop me a note.

Thanks,
Brent Rush
