Our dear friend Gene was a member of the CGWRR from 2001-2018. An avid modeler and collector of trains from both the Santa Fe and Colorado & Southern Gene has been fixture in the hobby around the Denver area for years.  You could always find him at any local railroad event or train show.  Gene had briefly worked for the Great Western Railway as a young man beforing served in the USMC in Vietnam.

Gene has passed on to "the big train in the sky” Sunday, November 28, 2021, he was 71 when he passed and is survived by his sister and brother-in-law in Ft. Collins.

Gene lovingly got the nickname “Gene-zilla” by the club members because of his large stature and propensity to accidentally break things on the layout at train shows and work sessions…. a lot!  Tales of his destructive ways through the years on the layout conjurded memories of those classic Godrilla movies.

In the spirit of Gene passing a year ago, the club remembers him by displaying his likeness “Gene-zilla” a vinatage godzilla toy dressed like Gene on the layout this past weekend at the train show in Loveland.
